Yin yoga is a slow-paced style of yoga practiced mostly seated or lying on your mat, with poses held for several minutes in stillness and mindful awareness. By focusing on the connective tissues or fascia of the body, yin yoga aims to increase circulation to the joints, and improve flexibility and range of motion. Other benefits include: release stress, anxiety, and stored emotions; feel a greater sense of balance and calm; improve blood pressure, digestion, and immune function. Props, such as a bolster or blanket, make the practice accessible to people of all ages and abilities.
